Marsh Harrier

UN ÊTEURCÉLET DES MATHAIS

Latin name: Circus aeruginosus

Marsh harriers range from 43 cm to 54 cm in length with a 115 cm to 130 cm wingspan. This species of bird likes wetland habitats, such as the marshes and reed beds of St Ouen’s Bay within the Jersey National Park. Find a good view of the sky above La Mielle de Morville nature reserve, opposite the part of the Bay known by Islanders as Secrets. You can see these birds year-round, though peak activity is November and October. Remember to turn your gaze upwards as these birds hunt from above. Their numbers are increasing.
